Faculty Record Cards Retired and Discontinued Faculty, and Leaves of Absence 1971-1992

Faculty record cards, created by the Office of the Provost, typically contain the following information on individual members of the Northwestern University faculty: name, professorial rank or academic appointment, school to which appointed, birthdate, and academic degrees received with year of receipt. Occasionally, the cards note faculty member's race, gender, nationality, social security number, and date or year of appointment to the faculty. The cards in this series represent individuals discontinued or retired from faculty service; the cards generally note the date and a brief reason for discontinuance. Faculty record cards are arranged by academic year of retirement or discontinuance. Within each yearly grouping cards are arranged alphabetically by faculty member's surnames. Completing the series are cards denoting faculty leaves of absence for the period 1988-1992. These cards note name, professorial rank, department and school, period of leave, and reason for leave. One card dates from 1982/1983.
